Advanced Fish Robots, Detecting Pollution using Wi-Fi Technology

A new invention, fish robot, was firstly developed by British scientist, which has been released in Northern Sea Spain to detect pollution. If the result of the first experiment of five fish robots that swim in the Northern Sea of Spain, in Gijon works successfully, the scientist team hopes that the fish robots can be used to guard rivers, lakes, and seas all over the world.

The fish robots shaped like freshwater fish sold for 20,000 pounds or about $29,000 each with the length of about 5 feet. Meanwhile, the face mimics and movements also made similar to the real fish, and equipped with chemical censor to smell dangerous pollutant, like large carrier ships that encounter leakage or underwater pipe.

The information results of the fish robots’ chemical censor will be retransmitted to the surface using Wi-Fi technology. The fish robots do not need a remote control, they can navigate their own body freely and automatically without any human interaction.

According to Doyle, a senior research scientist of BMT Group Corporation, London, by using the fish robots, they build a design that can save the energy. With the efficiency of the energy, they can ensure that the pollution censor detector can be used in the underwater environment for hours.
