Computer and information technology is growing rapidly. It gives limitless opportunity to learn almost all things and gives new approach to education. With the internet technology, it is like borderless library to learn and find the latest technology development. However, not every child has an access to this technology. Most of them live in poorness in developing countries. It is either they can afford a computer or the lack of information backbones in remote region.

That fact mentioned above is the reason One Laptop per Children programs is released by U.S based nonprofit organization. This program mission is to give equal education opportunity to the world’s poorest children trough providing them with low cost and power, rugged computer completed with content and software. Giving them a laptop means giving them a chance to feel the joyful of self empowered learning. Once known as One Hundreds Dollars laptop, this program is offered to governments and donators all over the world to buy and distribute it to poor children in their region.

OPLC program has collaboration with many computer and technology companies to create the laptop for this program. This laptop is designed to be low price but with endurance. Started with one hundred dollars laptop, this device is released under the name of XO-1. This laptop use flash memory instead of hard disk and bundled with open source operating system. It also has a mobile network protocol for collaborative activities and internet connection. This device is designed for low power consumption to meet the limitation of the remote area. XO-1 is expected to open an access for poor children to learn and prepare their selves for a better future.
